Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Kindergarten had a blast at with their 8th grade big sisters on the last day of school! They exchanged gifts, played games and participated in arts and crafts.
Gingerbread STEM Project
The girls read the stories: The Gingerbread Man, The Gingerbread Boy and The Gingerbread Girl. As a class we worked on story elements and completed various activities for each book. Then we compared and contrasted all the gingerbread books. After our gingerbread study, kindergarten teamed up with second grade in order to build a structure that would help the Gingerbread Girl safely get across the river without getting wet. The girls were provided with various materials and their structure had to be able to float in water for at least 10 seconds.
All of the girls did a magnificent job on their structures! After everyone had a chance to test their structure in the water, we discussed why some structures floated and why some did not.
