STEM - Spring 2018

All About Water

The Kindergarten class completed a whole unit study on water. We learned the water cycle and the importance of water.

Some new vocabulary words we learned include:
  • precipitation
  • collection
  • evaporation
  • condensation

LET IT RAIN EXPERIMENT

The girls participated in an experiment to determine how many drops it would take until it began to "rain." We made a shaving cream cloud above a cup of water and squeezed food coloring drops onto the cloud.

After learning the water cycle, as a class we discussed how people around the world could have access to clean and safe water. Using their knowledge of bodies of water and the different books we have read, the girls decided that people could build wells. The girls then built their own wells to gain a better understanding of how a well works.

Little scientists hard at work.

The girls testing their hypothesis. (Will the water really come up the tube/well? ).

They were amazed to see that their wells really worked!
